Swing by Swing with Handicaps and Stableford is here!

November 9th, 2011 — 1:57pm

Howdy fellow Golfer,

First off, sorry to all you golfers in the great white North. We ‘suthners are about to enjoy some awesome golf over the winter!

(It’s no wonder everybody in the USA retires to Florida and Arizona…)

And since we just released a new version of Swing by Swing with handicaps and Stableford scoring, I expect us ‘suthners will be playing A LOT of golf!

Yesterday we released a new version of SbS for iPhone and Android with a bunch of new features:

Free range finder new features:

  • Track the distance of any individual shot. (Sorta like “Club Tracker Lite”)

If you want the real-deal Club Tracker, check out Looper here.

Scorecard new features:

  • Play with Stroke Play or Stableford
  • Enter Handicaps for each Player
  • Quicker score entry
  • Updated Scorecard view to include Totals/Net, which holes you’re stroking on, and easy identification of every player
  • Scorecard preview when turning the phone into landscape mode

The Scorecard has a free 3-round trial. Even if you took advantage of a free Scorecard trial in the past, you can try it out again with the new features. To start your trial, just load the latest version of Swing by Swing on your phone and play a new round.

Download the latest version by visiting your mobile app store.

Enjoy! (And, don’t forget to let us know what you think about the latest version)

The BlackBerry Dilemma

November 9th, 2011 — 1:19pm

Howdy fellow golfer,

Over the past year, Swing by Swing has been busy upgrading the iPhone and Android operating systems. But, we’ve left the BB version pretty much untouched. To say the least, this has irked a lot of folks.

Today, I’d like to make our BlackBerry position public, and apologize to all Swing by Swing users on the BB platform.

As I’ve explained before, the BB operating system is a nightmare to program for. When they only had 4 versions of the OS, we had basically 48 different systems to account for. Now they have 6 different OS versions! And they keep changing the damn thing with each release and have no backward compatibility.

Basically, it’s like trying to code for 72 different operating environments…

We are just a small 3 person coding team over here, and we’re trying to compete with larger companies, with more funding, and more developers. We’re good, but we have to focus our development effort where it will give the most bang-for-the-buck.

The combination of a difficult coding environment and BlackBerry losing market share has dealt a killer blow to our BB ambitions. We are currently trying to roll out an updated version of SbS for BB which will include Scorecard updates and work with the latest operating systems. It will not include Club Tracker and it will not include Stableford or Handicaps.

When this version is in-the-wild, we will not be releasing an updated version again. We will remove the BB logo and download links from our website. We will make it very difficult for new BB users to find us.

We will continue to support the existing BB software, and you’ll have access to the latest course information and Scorecard and Statistics upgrades.

I understand this will not make a lot of people happy, and I’m sorry for that. I wish BB would get their stuff together and help folks like me help folks like you.

If you want to vent, this is the place to do it. I’ll be around to answer any questions.

Thanks,

Travis

This kind of sensitivity can’t be taught…

January 12th, 2011 — 2:56pm

Howdy fellow golfer,

Today’s Daily Golf Tip is not a tip at all… it’s a joke.

Thanks to Jamie A (from somewhere in Canada – take off ‘eh?!) for
sharing!

They are sitting in a room full of other pregnant women. The class is

FORCE Your Body To Hit Straight Golf Shots

January 12th, 2011 — 2:55pm

Howdy fellow golfer,

In yesterday’s Daily Golf Tip email, I introduced
you to Doc O’Leary -

He’s a self described “crazy golf nut” who wants to
help you out…

And, here’s what he is promising:

In less time than it takes to eat a hamburger,
you can OWN a tee shot that goes straight down
the fairway, every time… for HUNDREDS OF YARDS.

Every time. Like a machine.

http://www.swing-by-swing.com/squaring-it-up/

(iPhone users – you won’t be able to watch this video on
your phone! To watch the video, you must click the link above
from your computer…)

It’s pure heaven.

This AUTOMATICALLY forces your body to hit every
other club in your bag with the same precision.

That means… fairway woods “cannon blasts” to reach
even par 5 greens in TWO SHOTS…

… TOTAL CONFIDENCE that your ball will go where
you want it to… and wedges hit with authority
and bragging rights for BIRDIE attempts.

My trouble — and yours, too, I’ll bet — has always
been the lack of consistency in my drives, fairway
woods, and pitching.

Doc will take care of all that for you…

Check it out now at:

The LAST golf lesson you’ll ever need!

January 12th, 2011 — 2:53pm

Hi,

If you can give me just 5 minutes of your time…

…I’ll introduce you to a gentleman who will FORCE
you to get so good at driving with power and accuracy
that you’ll be able to hit 200-yard tee shots
while kneeling on one knee!

http://www.swing-by-swing.com/squaring-it-up/

(iPhone users – you won’t be able to watch this video on
your phone! To watch the video, you must click the link above
from your computer…)

Hi name is Doc O’Leary.

Doc has gained access to one of the world’s most
in-demand golf instructors. Somebody who guys like
you and me could never otherwise gain access to…

And, he will share with you the secret to never slicing
or hooking or muffing a tee shot again the rest of
your life…

…while adding so much of the power hidden inside your
body, you’ll be shaping 300-yard tee shots the very
next time you play!

To find out why top PGA pros, big business CEOs, and
Hollywood actors (who have the bucks to choose ANY teacher
in the world) beg for just ONE lesson from Doc’s
amazing “Secret Weapon” instructor, just get to

Almost all golfers are getting this wrong

January 12th, 2011 — 2:51pm

Hi there,

Here’s a little “club release” trick that very few
golfers are getting right (or even understand)…

… and yet it can practically eliminate those weak
slicing tee-shots.

It’s another FREE video tip that you can check out
now at:

http://www.swing-by-swing.com/squaring-it-up/tip2.html

This is important if you’re really serious about improving
your game because almost all amateurs are trying to “roll”
the clubface.

I’ll bet that’s what you’ve been taught to do as well.
Well guess what…

… “rolling” the clubface is all WRONG.

It’s time you learned a simplified way to achieve a
“delayed release”…

… that will juice-up EVERY one of your shots…

… square your clubface perfectly at impact…

… and give you the kind of pinpoint accuracy you’ve
probably been chasing for years.

This is how the pros do it.

It’s all spelled out for you in a short video clip that
you can see right now at:

http://www.swing-by-swing.com/squaring-it-up/tip2.html

It’s up right now… enjoy it while you’re thinking about it.

Long and straight!

The easy trick to hitting a downhill lie…

January 12th, 2011 — 2:50pm

Hi again,

I’ve got another golf video tip that’s super-important
to keeping you out of trouble.

It’s only around two minutes long, but will quickly clue
you into one of the most frustrating shots in golf…

… the dreaded downhill lie.

This video tip is yours free…

… and you can see it right now at:

http://www.swing-by-swing.com/squaring-it-up/tip1.html

Because if you’re anything like most golfers, you probably
hammer a hundred range balls before each round.

Problem is, on the range you’re hitting off a level surface…
but on the actual golf course — where it counts — the
ground is NOT flat…

…and you’re likely burning up valuable strokes duffing
shots off hillsides and steep moguls.

Well it’s time you knew exactly what the pros are doing
to handle this kind of common trouble shot.

It’s not tough, but you need to know a few key secrets
like…

… where your feet should be…

… how your weight should be distributed…

… and exactly what angle your shoulders should take.

This makes hitting long, soaring, accurate shots from
a downhill lie actually SIMPLE.

And again… it’s now available for free at:

http://www.swing-by-swing.com/squaring-it-up/tip1.html

Keep ‘em long and straight…

Merry Christmas! Android is here…

January 12th, 2011 — 2:48pm

Hi there,

This message is for those of you who have switched to an Android phone. I have a late Christmas present for ya…

(If you’re an iPhone or BlackBerry user, you can ignore the rest of this message. Sorry to bug!)

Swing by Swing is (finally) ready for your Android.

To get Swing by Swing on the Android, just open your Market app and do a search for “swing by swing”. We should be the first result returned.

Please note: This is the first version of SbS on the Android operating system. You have access to all the same features iPhone and BlackBerry folks get (like intermediate distance, green view, scorecard & stats, etc), but it’s a pre-1.0 version which may still have a few bugs.

No need to create a new account. You can log in with the same account you created on your previous phone.

IF you run into a bug, PLEASE send us the bug report so we may fix it immediately. We’ll be fixing bugs rapidly over the coming couple weeks – so if you find one, let us know about it!

Thanks for being a Swing by Swing golfer!

Lot’s more cool stuff coming your way in the near future…

3 Tips for Straighter, More Consistent Drives

January 12th, 2011 — 2:45pm

Hi again,

I don’t know about you, but I can’t keep more than 1 thought in my
head – about ANYTHING – at once.

(Just ask my wife – I can only think about one thing at a time. And,
get your mind out of the gutter, it’s not what you think.)

If you listen to some of the golf gurus out there, your head will be
_swimming_ with swing thoughts.

And that won’t help you at all…

In fact, it will just screw you up.

Hey – I’m screwed up enough. I don’t need a thousand gurus spouting a
million different swing thoughts and confusing the heck out of me.

That’s why today’s video tip is simple. Straight-forward. 3 things to
focus on with your swing to give you more consistent drives:

http://www.chucktheputter.com/golf-tips/3-tips-for-straighter-consistent-drives/

And, to make it easy on me, all 3 things come at different points
during the swing, so even I can keep ‘em straight!

Tip #1: One piece takeaway

Tip #2: Steady head

Tip #3: Balanced follow-through

Tim Panzanaro has been teaching the golf swing for 20 years, and his
1:15 video is quick, simple and effective!

Keep ‘em straight (and long),
